View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jeong-wan] Police have launched an investigation after a report was received that childcare teachers at a daycare center in Yeosu, Jeollanam-do, assaulted a 20-month-old child. It is reported that the child's mother collapsed while reviewing the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.
According to the Yeosu Police Station in Jeollanam-do on the 20th, a report was filed by the parents that their 20-month-old daughter, A, who attends a daycare center in Yeosu City, was assaulted by childcare teachers that morning.
The parents recently discovered suspicious injuries all over their daughter A's body after she returned from the daycare center. There was a large bruise on A's forehead, and bite-like marks on her arm.
Suspicious of these injuries, the parents protested to the daycare center, but initially, the center explained that A was injured after bumping into a friend while playing on the slide.
However, the CCTV footage inside the daycare center clearly showed one teacher holding A while another hit the child's head with objects such as a book and a spoon.
After seeing the abuse recorded on the CCTV, A's mother was shocked and collapsed, and was taken to the hospital by emergency services (119).
Following this, the police, together with Yeosu City officials, secured the daycare center's CCTV footage and confirmed on the 19th that two childcare teachers assaulted A.
