Signed a Business Agreement with Korea Environment Corporation and Others

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte Hi-Mart announced on the 21st that it has signed a public-private joint memorandum of understanding (MOU) to improve the small home appliance waste collection system together with the Korea Environment Corporation, Korea Electronics Resource Circulation Cooperative, Samsung Electronics, and LG Electronics.
Lotte Hi-Mart is responsible for installing and operating dedicated collection boxes for small waste electrical and electronic equipment at offline sales stores, as well as providing guidance and promotion on separate disposal of waste electrical and electronic products when selling products.
Waste home appliances collected through Lotte Hi-Mart's collection boxes are sent to resource circulation centers nationwide, where they are classified into recyclable parts and hazardous parts for eco-friendly processing. The target items for collection will also be expanded from 50 items to all items.

A Lotte Hi-Mart official said, "We are making efforts to establish a foundation for a virtuous resource circulation structure by actively utilizing the infrastructure of directly operated stores nationwide to operate waste home appliance collection boxes," adding, "We will continue to make new attempts to contribute to the environment and society."
