National Cancer Center, Promotes Medical Staff Training Cooperation with 'Cote d'Ivoire National Cancer Center'
[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] On the 20th, the National Cancer Center announced on the 21st that it held a meeting to discuss cooperation plans for training medical personnel from C?te d'Ivoire with a delegation from the Ministry of Health of C?te d'Ivoire visiting the National Cancer Center.
The National Cancer Center is in charge of the training and education project as part of the 'C?te d'Ivoire National Cancer Center Construction Project,' a concessional loan project under the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) that has been underway since last year, aiming for completion in 2024. Training for medical personnel who will work at the C?te d'Ivoire National Cancer Center is also planned to be conducted by 2027.
This visit was promoted to broaden mutual understanding of the C?te d'Ivoire National Cancer Center construction project and to foster exchange and cooperation between the two institutions. Four people attended the visit, including Kassi N'Gouan Victor, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Health of C?te d'Ivoire, and Professor Adoubi Inossong, the overall head of the National Cancer Control Project of C?te d'Ivoire.
During the visit, after an introduction to the overall status of the C?te d'Ivoire training and education project, discussions continued on specific exchange plans at the level of national cancer control projects, including medical personnel training. Subsequently, a meeting was held with the task force (TF) members of the C?te d'Ivoire National Cancer Center training and education project, followed by a tour of cutting-edge medical facilities such as the operating room and the proton therapy system, which was first introduced domestically by the National Cancer Center.
Kassi N'Gouan Victor, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Health, said, "It was a meaningful opportunity to confirm the medical system and response framework for cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment established by the Korean National Cancer Center," adding, "We plan to effectively apply the know-how on cancer management and treatment methods from the Korean National Cancer Center to the C?te d'Ivoire National Cancer Center in the future."

Seo Hong-kwan, Director of the National Cancer Center, also said, "I hope this was an opportunity to share the cancer-specialized medical technology and advanced systems accumulated by the National Cancer Center and to concretize cooperation plans between the two countries," and added, "We will continue to disseminate the National Cancer Center's medical technology and promote exchange of specialized medical personnel through inviting C?te d'Ivoire medical staff for training and dispatching National Cancer Center medical personnel locally in the future."
