Professor Lee appeared on YTN Radio's 'Wise Radio Life' and referred to a recent incident in an apartment complex in Ulsan where an 8-year-old child was bitten by a dog, explaining how to handle encounters with dangerous dogs.
He stated, "Dogs have the ability to distinguish between the weak and the strong," and added, "When a dog makes large body movements and barks loudly in confrontation, it is important not to show your back."

Professor Lee advised, "If there is no one around to help, the best method is to clasp your fingers to protect your neck and fall down as you are," adding, "At this time, you should not shout, and if the dog stays still, it instinctively bites and then lets go, so staying still is also a method."
He further explained, "There is also a method of deliberately offering your hand or foot," and added, "If you offer your hand or foot, it is less threatening and more protective compared to when the dog bites the neck."
He said, "Standing still in place and looking at a distant mountain, avoiding eye contact with the dog, is also a method," and added, "Using items you have, such as a bag, hat, or shoes, is important. Dogs have a habit of chasing and checking flying objects."
Professor Lee also explained the temporary suspension of the euthanasia procedure for the dog that injured the child. Earlier, the police proceeded with the procedure, considering the dog a high risk for causing fatal accidents, but the prosecution requested evidence, causing the procedure to be put on hold. Under current law, animals are classified as property, and additional indirect evidence must be secured to consider the animal (seized item) dangerous to keep.

He said, "A temperament test should be conducted to see if the dog shows aggression when a person passes by or approaches, if it strongly watches when objects are moved, or if it has a strong desire to bite when touched by a person," and added, "If it is judged that the dog cannot be rehabilitated at all, euthanasia is the priority."
