Pick Up Marine Litter and Get Sea Snacks... Korea Tourism Organization’s Ssudam Campaign ‘Sea Snack’
From the 23rd to the 14th of next month
‘Ssnack’ Campaign for Ssudam at East Coast Beaches
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 18th that it will conduct the nationwide trash collection campaign 'SEANACK' in collaboration with the Environmental Foundation from July 23 to August 14 at four East Coast beaches.
SEANACK is a portmanteau of SEA and SNACK, with the slogan "A snack shop where marine litter becomes money." The campaign is designed to provide sea-related snacks (such as Whale Snack and Jagalchi) to participants who collect trash from the beaches.
Participants can rent cleaning tools from the SEANACK truck, collect trash at the beach, and receive snacks based on the weight of the trash collected.
The SEANACK truck will sequentially visit Yangyang Surf Beach (7.23~24), Gyeongpo Beach (7.30~31), Jumunjin Beach (8.6~7), and Sokcho Beach (8.13~14) along the East Coast.
If trash is collected outside the four East Coast beaches and certified on social media with the hashtag #SEANACK, participants will be entered into a draw to receive sea-related snack gifticons.
The Tourism Organization is also conducting the trash collection campaign on land.
The organization is running the 'Ssedam' campaign together with the Korea Central Volunteer Center along the 'Korea Dullegil,' a walking trail connecting the East, West, and South coasts as well as the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) border areas.
