"Yeokhaengja," a life hacking guide by Jacheong who achieved economic freedom, ranked second, while "Bulpeonhan Pyeonuijeom," a heartwarming and humorous story comforting weary days, maintained its third place from the previous week. The popular children's Hanja learning comic series "Mabeop Cheonjamon 53" debuted at fourth place immediately upon release this week, and "Isanghan Gwaja Gage Jeoncheondang 15," depicting the appearance of a fake Beniko targeting Jeoncheondang, took fifth place.
With elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide entering full summer vacation, new releases from popular children's book series dominated the rankings this week. Along with "Mabeop Cheonjamon 53" and "Isanghan Gwaja Gage Jeoncheondang 15" at fourth and fifth place respectively, the nature observation comic "Egg Doctor 7," which reconstructs original videos by popular kids creator Egg Doctor, ranked 14th, and "Greek Roman Mythology 29," depicting the perilous adventures of Odysseus and his crew who incurred the gods' wrath, placed 18th.
Steady sellers in the novel category continued their consistent popularity this week. The novel "Goodbye," by author Kim Young-ha, containing deep reflections on meetings, partings, life, and death, ranked sixth, and "Welcome to Hyunamdong Bookstore," a novel by Hwang Boreum celebrating 100,000 copies with a summer forest edition, took 11th place. "The Last Train Station in the World," a novel by Takeshi Murase depicting a miraculous story born from the longing of those who lost loved ones, ranked 15th.
The number one spot in the e-book category was taken by the essay "The First Day in My Life I Didn't Study" by Park Sang-young, the fourth protagonist of Yes24's "Looking for Writers" project introducing young authors who will shape the future of Korean literature. Following that, "Minor Feelings," an autobiographical essay by Korean-American author Cathy Park Hong, who was a Pulitzer Prize finalist, ranked second.
Analysis of the age and gender distribution of pre-order buyers for "Pachinko 1" showed that those in their 40s accounted for a dominant 49.1%, followed by 30s (23.9%), 50s (15.0%), and 20s (8.4%). The gender ratio was approximately 2:8, with women overwhelmingly in the majority.
