Minsaeng Party Gwangju Branch Criticizes Lee Jae-myung's Gwangju Visit for "Failing to Recognize Urgent Reality"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Minsheng Party Gwangju Metropolitan City Party strongly criticized the visit of Lee Jae-myung, a member of the National Assembly from the Democratic Party of Korea, to Gwangju, calling it "a product of backward politics that fails to recognize reality."
On the 11th, Park Dae-woo, chairman of the Minsheng Party Gwangju City Party, said in a press release, "Gwangju is currently in a critical situation. It is not a time to sit on the grass with a mat and comfort anyone," adding, "Is it time to do politics under the shade of park trees? The citizens of Gwangju are disappointed."
He continued, "Look at the site of Subway Line 2, which cannot be completed due to lack of funds," and claimed, "What the Democratic Party showed to the workers laboring under the suffocating heat and scorching sun, the self-employed waiting for one customer a day at shops beside the excavated road, and the drivers enduring traffic congestion to continue their livelihoods was a scene of shouting 'fighting' with supporters under the shade of park trees."
Furthermore, he said, "Shouldn't they appeal to President Yoon Seok-yeol to help with the budget so that the construction of Subway Line 2, which is the hope of Gwangju citizens, can be completed as soon as possible, saying 'I will add my National Assembly member salary to repay the grace of Gwangju citizens, and our Democratic Party members will even add our salaries'?" He emphasized, "That is the true way for Gwangju and the proper way to repay Gwangju's support."
