KWVMF is an organization established following the promotion of the Korean War Veterans Memorial Park through the approval of the U.S. Congress in 1986 to honor Korean War veterans. Subsequently, in 1987, an advisory committee appointed directly by former U.S. President Reagan was formed, and it has carried out major tasks such as constructing the memorial park and veterans memorial in 1995, completing the Wall of Remembrance this year, and raising funds to carry out these projects.
In particular, the completed "Wall of Remembrance" within the Korean War Veterans Memorial Park located in Washington D.C. contains the names of a total of 43,808 individuals, including 36,634 U.S. military personnel and 7,174 KATUSA (Korean Augmentation to the United States Army) soldiers who died during the Korean War. Kumho Petrochemical Group will participate in KWVMF’s activities through this $500,000 sponsorship, including the production and operation of guidance and educational programs about the Korean War and veterans in the U.S. These activities will be conducted through the operation of the memorial hall, website, mobile applications, commemorative events, ceremonies, and education.
Park Chan-gu, Chairman of Kumho Petrochemical Group, expressed his thoughts, saying, "It is an honor to be able to honor the noble spirit of sacrifice of the veterans who dedicated themselves to the Republic of Korea." In response, Tilally, Chairman of KWVMF, said, "We are pleased with the decision of Kumho Petrochemical Group and Chairman Park Chan-gu to participate in this meaningful work, and we believe it will be a great help in honoring the noble sacrifice."
