Sejong City Eases Youth Housing Cost Burden with 'Monthly Rent Support'
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City will support housing costs for 100 single-person youth households to help them settle in the region.
The city announced on the 11th that it will promote the "Youth Housing Rent Support Project." The support consists of monthly rent assistance of up to 200,000 KRW for a maximum of 10 months.
The eligible applicants are single-person households aged 19 to 34 who have been registered residents in Sejong for more than six months as of the announcement date, are non-homeowners, and live in rented buildings with a deposit of 100 million KRW or less and monthly rent of 600,000 KRW or less (85㎡ or less).
Support is available if the household income, based on the applicant's household health insurance premium, is at or below 150% of the median income (2.91 million KRW). If the applicant is a dependent under the National Health Insurance, the income is calculated based on the health insurance premium of the supporter.
To receive support, applicants must apply online through the Sejong Youth Hope Tomorrow Center website between the 25th and 29th of this month or visit the Youth Hope Tomorrow Center to complete the application process.
To prevent duplicate support, recipients of housing benefits, residents of public rental housing, and participants in similar housing projects promoted by the government or city are excluded from the program. Additionally, youths who have rental contracts with their parents and public officials are not eligible to apply.
After receiving applications and verifying qualifications, the city plans to select and announce the final recipients in mid-next month and begin disbursing support funds from the end of next month.
