[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Gwangjin District Council (Chairman Chu Yoon-gu) held the opening ceremony of the 9th council on the morning of the 8th in the main assembly hall, commencing four years of legislative activities.
Earlier, the district council completed its organization by electing the chairperson group at the 1st plenary session of the 253rd meeting and the standing committee chairpersons at the 3rd plenary session.
The opening ceremony proceeded with the council members' oath-taking, followed by the opening address, congratulatory remarks by District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho, and the introduction of district executives, attended by district officials including the mayor.
Through the oath, the council members pledged to "faithfully perform their duties to enhance the rights and welfare of the residents and to promote the sound development of district administration."
Chairman Chu Yoon-gu vowed in his opening address, "We will generously support the council members' legislative activities and create a rational and democratic council based on trust and harmony."
