[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do, will fully support the interest on student loans for local university students starting this year.
The county announced that it is accepting applications for the "Student Loan Interest Support Project" until the 29th to alleviate the financial burden on local university students.
The student loan interest support project is funded by Jeollanam-do and 22 cities and counties and will be implemented starting this year.
Applicants must be enrolled (including on leave) or unemployed within two years after graduation as of the announcement date (July 4, 2022), with themselves or their direct ascendants registered as residents in Jeollanam-do for more than one year.
Applications can be submitted on the Jeonnam Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute website.
Once confirmed as a support recipient, the interest on student loans incurred in the first half of this year from the Korea Student Aid Foundation will be fully supported and automatically repaid from the principal and interest of the loan.
A county official said, "We hope this project will help reduce the interest burden from student loans for local university students and allow them to focus on their studies," adding, "We will continue to provide support to nurture talent for regional development."
