The theme of the performance, "Messiah," is one of the most frequently performed works worldwide. Composed by Handel in just three weeks, it is considered a masterpiece and, along with Haydn's "The Creation" and Mendelssohn's "Elijah," is counted among the world's three great oratorios.
This performance is attracting attention in the performing arts community as a unique project staging the popular year-end repertoire "Messiah" in early August.
The conductor for Handel's "Messiah" is Park Jongwon, director of the Seoul City Choir. Alongside the choir, soprano Heo Jina, countertenor Jung Minho, tenor Kim Seil, and baritone Kang Juwon will participate, with Camerata Antiqua Seoul collaborating as the orchestra.
This small-scale performance in a hall dedicated to classical music will feature a special segment where the audience will perform "Hallelujah" together with the choir.
Audience members will use the sheet music distributed upon entry to sing along with the Seoul City Choir, following the conductor's direction during the performance to create the stage together.
