Gwangju Buk-gu Promotes Support Program for Newlyweds Preparing for Pregnancy
Free Health Checkups and Folic Acid Support Starting This Month for (Expectant) Newlyweds Before First Child Pregnancy
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju City announced on the 6th that it will promote the ‘(Prospective) Newlywed Couple Pregnancy Preparation Support Project’ starting this month to support residents' healthy pregnancy and childbirth.
This project targets newlywed couples residing in Buk-gu and provides free health checkups before the first pregnancy and folic acid supplements for pregnancy preparation.
For the free health checkup, either one of the couple must reside in Buk-gu to apply. They will receive a total of 10 tests including hepatitis B, urine sugar, urine protein, rubella, and pulmonary tuberculosis, and can check the results within 7 days.
Also, prospective pregnant women residing in Buk-gu can receive a 3-month supply of folic acid supplements.
Applications for health checkups and folic acid supplement support can be made by visiting the Health Promotion Division on the 5th floor of Buk-gu Public Health Center.
When visiting, prospective couples must bring a wedding invitation or wedding hall contract, and married couples must bring an ID card and a marriage certificate.
A Buk-gu official said, “We will continue to promote various childbirth encouragement support projects so that residents can be guaranteed healthy pregnancy and childbirth.”
