On the 5th, KT announced at the 'Digico Study' that its AI apartment service based on KT's GiGA Genie is expected to surpass 1 million cumulative orders this year. This milestone comes five years after the service was launched in 2017. KT has supplied the service to apartment complexes such as Seoul Acro Seoul Forest and Helio City.
Residents of apartments equipped with the AI apartment service can use GiGA Genie to control lighting, heating, and gas valves by voice, as well as manage shared facilities like elevators within the complex. Additionally, community activities such as checking maintenance fees and announcements are also possible.
Furthermore, in 2020, KT expanded beyond apartments to release AI housing-type solutions in collaboration with domestic home network providers, enabling customers living in various residential spaces such as officetels, townhouses, villas, and detached houses to more easily use the AI Space service based on the KT GiGA Genie platform.
The AI housing-type solution is a service expanded through a smart mirror-type wall pad. KT equipped the smart mirror-type wall pad with KT GiGA Genie Inside, allowing voice recognition-based control of home appliances and heating/cooling systems, fire and intrusion detection, as well as access to various information such as music, news, podcasts, and weather.
KT also plans to utilize digital platform services in its existing AI apartment and AI housing businesses. For example, homes equipped with KT’s Environment DX service can optimize indoor air quality. KT provides ventilation, purification, and oxygen supply, and residents can use GiGA Genie to operate the ventilation system or check air quality status. Additionally, KT employs Safety DX services to ensure residents' safety. In case of a fire in apartment complexes, alarms are promptly sent to managers, and evacuation routes for each household are guided through Olleh TV.
Alongside this, the rooftop emergency door safety service enables safe management of rooftop emergency exits. Normally kept closed to protect residents from various crimes, the doors automatically open during disasters to allow the rooftop to be used as a refuge. Moreover, KT applies various robot technologies such as service robots and disinfection robots.
