Yoon holds regular meeting with Prime Minister Han Deok-su... "Ensure thorough follow-up on NATO sales diplomacy"
Three Weeks After the First Meeting... Discussions on Inflation and Semiconductor Talent Development
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the 4th, President Yoon Suk-yeol asked Prime Minister Han Duck-soo to share the agenda of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit and the 10-nation summit, and to ensure thorough follow-up measures such as defense industry and nuclear power sales.
The Presidential Office and the Prime Minister's Office announced that during the weekly meeting held at the Yongsan Presidential Office between President Yoon and Prime Minister Han on the same day, this request was made. This weekly meeting took place three weeks after President Yoon's first weekly meeting on the 13th of last month. President Yoon visited Spain from the 27th of last month to the 1st of this month, and Prime Minister Han visited France from the 19th to the 23rd of last month, so the weekly meeting could not be held.
Following President Yoon's request, Prime Minister Han reported on the severe domestic and international economic situation, stating, "The cabinet, led by the Prime Minister, will unite to fully respond to urgent issues such as inflation and household debt, while focusing government capabilities on enhancing the growth potential of our economy through strong regulatory innovation."
In response, President Yoon emphasized, "Since our economy is in a very difficult emergency situation, including inflation, stabilizing the people's livelihood economy must be the top priority of state affairs, and extraordinary efforts must be made."
President Yoon and Prime Minister Han also discussed the progress of semiconductor-related talent development. President Yoon said, "The success or failure of Korea's future lies in talent development," and urged, "The entire government, led by the Prime Minister, should cooperate and devote all efforts to nurturing talent suitable for the Fourth Industrial Revolution era."
Prime Minister Han also reported, "We are establishing support measures that can produce maximum results by comprehensively considering the overall conditions of universities," and added, "In the mid to long term, we will prepare an education system that can continuously nurture excellent talent through education reform."
President Yoon and Prime Minister Han also discussed the management plan for national tasks, emphasizing, "Since it is very important to properly explain to the public the work the government is pursuing, each ministry should make special efforts in policy communication."
