The new content, scheduled for launch in September, is a large-scale outdoor escape game titled "Akjeok: The Relic That Calls Death" (working title), which allows any park visitor to enjoy the game using their smartphone.
The game "Akjeok: The Relic That Calls Death," set against the backdrop of the park, began joint development on the 27th through a business agreement between Gyeongju Expo Grand Park and Play the World, a company specializing in outdoor escape game development.
The development of this outdoor escape content is a non-face-to-face outdoor experience program responding to new tourism trends. It aims to discover content preferred by people in their 20s and 30s, giving Gyeongju Expo Grand Park a youthful image and promoting park revitalization and increased visitor numbers.
The game can be accessed via a QR code installed at the park entrance using a smartphone, allowing participation without installing a separate app, making it easy for anyone to use.
Upon accessing the game through a smartphone, the adventure story unfolding in Gyeongju Expo Grand Park is introduced in a webtoon format. Players find clues hidden throughout the park, move to key locations, and solve puzzles to receive the next clue.
Following the game story, missions using the park's terrain and landmarks, obtaining hints, and experiences that blend online and offline elements, along with the synergy of digital technology and the sense of place, will enhance the game's immersion.
