Fire Agency Signs Unified Contract for Firefighting Helicopter Aviation Fuel... Expected to Save 228 Million KRW in Budget
Contract Signed for Integrated Unit Price of 30 Firefighting Helicopters of the 119 Air Brigade
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The National Fire Agency announced on the 30th that, amid an unprecedented oil price war, it has contracted aviation fuel for 30 fire helicopters nationwide at a unified unit price and will operate under this contract starting from the 1st of next month.
The National Fire Agency switched from the previous method where the Central 119 Rescue Headquarters and 15 city/province 119 Aviation Squadrons individually contracted aviation fuel unit prices to a unified contract method starting in 2020.
Through this, the reimbursement process for refueling support between aviation squads has been simplified, and operational efficiency has been improved. In particular, when an aviation squad performs missions in other regions, it can reimburse in kind at the contracted unit price of the local contractor, enabling smooth mission execution and stable supply of aviation fuel.
Additionally, this year, the bidding regional groups for the nationwide 119 Aviation Squads were subdivided, and the supply method was improved to expand opportunities for many companies to participate fairly in the bidding process. Through this contract method, it is expected that about 228 million KRW of the budget will be saved this year. This figure was calculated by comparing the average market price from market research and the contracted unit price for the annual planned usage of 3.3 million liters of aviation fuel for 30 fire helicopters nationwide.
