'Digital Twin Land' Project Local Governments Contest... Up to 700 Million KRW Support
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 26th that it will hold a public contest for the 2nd Digital Twin National Land Pilot Project, which allows the discovery and experimentation of 'Digital Twin' services, from June 24 to July 22.
Digital Twin National Land refers to a technology that three-dimensionally implements the real national land in a virtual space and links various administrative and attribute information to support the resolution of complex and diverse urban problems through simulation.
This 2nd pilot project plans to be promoted by partially reorganizing and supplementing the contest method to discover more diverse and applicable business models based on the experience of the 1st pilot project.
The target for the pilot project contest includes all local governments nationwide, including metropolitan (special/metropolitan cities, provinces, special self-governing cities, special self-governing provinces) and basic (cities, counties, districts) levels, with a total of 7 tasks to be selected.
The contest fields are divided into five categories: transportation, urban planning and management, administrative permits support, disaster safety, and environment, with up to two projects to be selected per category. Local governments wishing to apply can choose their support field and submit a project plan tailored to their characteristics.
The evaluation criteria consist of usability of the project content (50 points), innovativeness (30 points), and the local government's proactiveness (20 points). This year, the evaluation items have been adjusted and a bonus point system introduced to encourage the discovery of more diverse and novel service functions, supplementing the existing evaluation criteria.
Applications will be accepted from June 24 to July 22. After a written evaluation (1st round) and presentation evaluation (2nd round) by an evaluation committee composed of digital twin experts, the final selection will be made in August.
Selected local governments can receive up to 700 million KRW per task (with a 5:5 local government and national government matching fund) from the national treasury. Detailed contest plans and application details will be available for download on the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport website starting June 24.
