KOFIA Holds the '4th Hedge Fund Concert of 2022'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Korea Financial Investment Association (Chairman Na Jae-cheol) announced on the 24th that it successfully held the ‘4th Hedge Fund Concert of 2022’ at the Bulls Hall in Yeouido Financial Investment Center.
The Hedge Fund Concert is an event planned by the Korea Financial Investment Association to help university (graduate) students gain a proper understanding of the hedge fund market and provide career exploration opportunities. It started in 2017 and this year marks the 4th edition.
About 200 students attended the event, including university investment club members from Seoul as well as students from Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions, showing strong interest in the hedge fund market and industry.
At the event, Yoon Jung-in, CEO of Fibonacci Asset Management, Lee Joo-sang, Executive Director of Timefolio Asset Management, and Park Kyung-do, Head of DS Asset Management, gave passionate lectures as keynote speakers and participated in free discussions.
The first speaker, Yoon Jung-in, CEO of Fibonacci Asset Management, presented on the topic ‘The Startup Story of a Hedge Fund Management Company.’ Drawing from her experience working at Morgan Stanley and Deutsche Securities’ London headquarters, she shared the story of founding a hedge fund management company led by the MZ generation in 2021. She shared her entrepreneurial philosophy of wanting to grow the company not simply as a money-making business but as a socially beneficial enterprise, along with her vision for the hedge fund market and industry with the university students.
Next, Lee Joo-sang, Executive Director of Timefolio Asset Management, gave a presentation on ‘Hedge Fund Investment Strategies.’ Starting his career at Daewoo Securities and currently overseeing planning, marketing, and sales as head of the management planning division at Timefolio Asset Management, Lee explained hedge fund investment strategies in an easy-to-understand manner for the students.
Finally, Park Kyung-do, Head of DS Asset Management, delivered a lecture titled ‘Free Talk on Hedge Fund Market and Industry.’ He explained in an easy and detailed way tailored to the students’ level about the ideal talent for hedge fund management companies, the daily life of hedge fund managers, and various roles within hedge fund firms (product & marketing, analyst, compliance officer, etc.), helping job seekers better understand the field.

Na Seok-jin, head of the Asset Management Division at the Korea Financial Investment Association, which hosted the event, said, "I hope this Hedge Fund Concert provided university students with an opportunity to share the investment philosophies and experiences of hedge fund management companies."
