100,000 KRW Per Person, Subsidies for Textbooks and EBS Content Provided
Applications Open from the 29th, Separate Application Required Even for Recipients
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Office of Education will provide a special learning support fund for education benefits on a temporary basis this year.
The provincial Office of Education announced on the 23rd that it will provide support funds to alleviate learning deficits among low-income students.
The special learning support fund for education benefits is a learning subsidy for recipients of education benefits provided by the Ministry of Education, 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education, and the Korea Student Aid Foundation, which can be used to purchase textbooks or access EBS educational broadcast content.
The support is provided in the form of card points, customized EBS coupons, or simple payment points, and 100,000 KRW per student is expected to be supported through the Korea Student Aid Foundation.
The support fund can only be used when purchasing books at online or offline bookstores or when buying EBS content.
It is given to students who qualify for education benefits from March this year until July, and to receive the special learning support fund, the qualification must be confirmed by July.
According to the Office of Education, there are about 25,860 education benefit recipients in the province.
Applications for the support fund can be made from the 29th until September 30th on the Korea Student Aid Foundation's special learning support fund application website.
An official from the Office of Education urged, "Even if you are a recipient of education benefits, support will not be provided unless you apply, so you must apply separately."

Kim Soonhee, Director of the Education Welfare Division, said, "This will reduce the educational expenses burden on low-income households struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, expand educational opportunities for students, and enable more stable educational activities."
