'The Witch 2' Ranks 2nd with Over 1.76 Million Viewers

According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system on the 23rd, 'Top Gun: Maverick' (director Joseph Kosinski), which was released on the 22nd, attracted 188,363 viewers and ranked first at the box office. It was screened 9,159 times across 1,975 screens, and the cumulative audience including preview screenings reached 253,067.
'Top Gun: Maverick' is an aviation action blockbuster that tells the story of the top pilot Maverick, who returns as an instructor, and the new team members who undertake life-threatening missions. It is a sequel to the popular series returning after 36 years. Actor Tom Cruise visited Korea last weekend and met with domestic audiences, heating up the atmosphere.
In second place was 'The Witch: Part 2' (director Park Hoon-jung), which drew 82,696 viewers. The film, released on the 15th, has a cumulative audience of 1,769,493.
This year's first film to surpass 10 million viewers, 'The Outlaws 2' (director Lee Sang-yong), took third place, having been released on the 18th of last month and watched by 11,671,570 people. Following were director Hirokazu Koreeda's 'Broker' in fourth place, and the foreign film 'Lightyear' in fifth place.
