Lotte Hi-Mart Donates 50 Million KRW for Support Program for Abused Children
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte Hi-Mart announced on the 22nd that it will donate support funds worth 50 million KRW as part of its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management to support projects for children who are victims of abuse.
The funds will be used to support the treatment and protection of abused children, as well as for campaigns to prevent and report child abuse. The resources were raised through voluntary donations from Lotte Hi-Mart employees. Approximately 30 million KRW of the support funds will be delivered to six shelters and ten foster families urgently needing assistance for abused children. The funds will be used to provide daily necessities, childcare expenses, living stabilization costs, psychological treatment fees, and legal-related expenses to create a stable nurturing environment for abused children.
Starting next month, Lotte Hi-Mart will also conduct a child abuse prevention and reporting campaign at over 420 stores nationwide. To take the lead in eradicating child abuse, the company has planned a campaign to encourage consumers to participate. Post-it notes detailing methods for preventing and reporting child abuse will be produced and placed in stores with high foot traffic and distributed to visiting customers.
