LG Demonstrates 'Super Large AI' Technology at World's Most Prestigious AI Conference
[Asia Economy Reporter Sunmi Park] LG AI Research Institute will demonstrate its ‘super-large AI’ technology at the world’s most prestigious AI conference, the ‘International Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) 2022.’
On the 19th, LG Electronics announced that it will present six regular papers and one workshop paper at CVPR, held from today until the 24th at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Last year, only one paper was presented at CVPR, but this year, including solo research papers, two papers were selected for oral presentations, showing remarkable research achievements.
In particular, it is significant that the solo research paper (L-Verse) related to the core technology implementing LG AI Research Institute’s super-large multimodal AI was selected for oral presentation. Oral presentation opportunities are granted only to research papers that receive top evaluations within 4% of all submissions to the conference. An LG Electronics official explained, "In an AI conference where academia-industry collaborative papers dominate, the fact that an individual company presented a solo research paper means that the technology has been proven."
Meanwhile, five major LG affiliates?LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Energy Solution, LG Uplus, and LG CNS?will actively engage in activities to secure global AI talent together with LG AI Research Institute at CVPR. To this end, AI researchers and recruitment officers from each LG affiliate will conduct demonstrations of their latest AI technologies and recruitment consultations at the LG integrated booth.
On the 21st, LG AI Research Institute and the five major affiliates will hold ‘LG AI Day,’ a networking event for graduate students majoring in AI. At the ‘LG AI Day’ event, Kim Seunghwan, Head of Vision Lab at LG AI Research Institute, along with research leaders and senior researchers from each company, will directly explain LG’s AI technology development status and talent cultivation plans.
