By 9 PM, 5,760 Confirmed Cases Nationwide... 725 Fewer Than Yesterday
Minimum in 22 Weeks Based on Saturday Midterm Tally
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to decline, 5,000-level new confirmed cases were reported by 9 PM on the 18th.
According to Seoul Metropolitan Government and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on the day, a total of 5,760 people across 17 cities and provinces nationwide were confirmed positive for COVID-19. This is 725 fewer than the 6,485 cases recorded at the same time the previous day.
Compared to a week ago on the 11th at the same time (7,097 cases), it decreased by 1,337, and compared to two weeks ago on the 4th (9,385 cases), it decreased by 3,625.
This is the lowest figure in 22 weeks since January 15 (3,552 cases) based on the preliminary count as of 9 PM on Saturday. Since there is still time until midnight when the count is finalized, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced on the 19th is expected to increase but remain around 6,000 cases.
As of 9 PM on the day, new confirmed cases were 2,617 (45.4%) in the metropolitan area and 3,143 (54.5%) in non-metropolitan areas.
