On the 18th, Ethics Committee Chairperson Lee Yang-hee emphasized in a statement, "The Ethics Committee holds disciplinary authority over all party members regardless of their individual status and will handle matters fairly according to the public's expectations and the party's constitution and regulations."
She also pointed out, "Demanding judgments equivalent to investigative agencies despite the Ethics Committee's limited authority is a claim that shows a misunderstanding of the People Power Party's constitution and regulations."
She continued, "The disciplinary procedure was decided to commence on April 21, and the notified subjects have the right to provide explanations at any time. We hope that inappropriate political actions that disrupt the Ethics Committee's operations will not recur."
This statement is interpreted as being aimed at Representative Lee, who is effectively opposing the Ethics Committee's disciplinary discussions.

The day before, Representative Lee appeared on the conservative YouTube channel 'Pen and Mike TV' and stated, "The fact that the police investigation and the Ethics Committee procedures are proceeding concurrently means that the Ethics Committee cannot take precedence over the police investigation," adding, "No matter what conclusion is reached, the two can influence each other," and "It is not usual to proceed this way, so I do not understand why this is happening."
