Seoul City to Enable Online Payment for 'Kkumnamu Card' for Food-Insecure Children Starting from the 20th
A System to Pick Up at Your Desired Time from Any GS25 Convenience Store Online
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 19th that starting from the 20th, it will begin operating the ‘Kkum Namu Card Online Payment System,’ developed in collaboration with Shinhan Card and GS Retail, to address the nutritional imbalance issues faced by children experiencing food insecurity due to the recent rapid rise in dining-out prices and to reduce the stigma and inconvenience associated with in-person payments using the Kkum Namu Card.
The ‘Kkum Namu Card Online Payment System,’ introduced for the first time nationwide, allows children using the Kkum Namu Card to purchase high-quality food items from GS25 convenience stores online at a 20% discounted price and pick them up at their preferred time and location.
Along with launching the online payment system for children facing food insecurity in Seoul, GS Retail plans to develop and sell a nutritious and affordable ‘Nutritious Lunchbox’ at the request of Seoul City. With advice from nutrition experts, the lunchbox emphasizes meat side dishes essential for growing children (20% more than school meal nutrition management standards) and includes salads and dairy products considering nutritional balance.
To use the Kkum Namu Card Online Payment System, children with the Kkum Namu Card download and access the Seoul City Kkum Namu Card app on their mobile phones, then tap the GS25 Child Meal Card 20% Discount banner on the screen to access the GS25 My Refrigerator app.
Within this app, users can select high-quality meals such as lunchboxes and gimbap using the reservation order function, enter their preferred time and convenience store, and register their Kkum Namu Card at payment to receive a 20% discount.
Seoul City expects that among the 16,987 children using the Kkum Namu Card, many who use convenience stores will be able to enjoy nutritious meals and that the stigma and inconvenience associated with using the Kkum Namu Card will be alleviated.
