Choi Kwang-yeol Appointed as New Head of Gwangju Branch of the Liberation Association
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Choi Gwang-yeol, the newly appointed head of the Gwangju Metropolitan City branch of the Liberation Association, took office on the 16th.
On the same day, Choi held a simple inauguration ceremony attended by Liberation Association members and guests at the Gwangju Anti-Japanese Independence Movement Memorial Tower in the morning, followed by the Liberation Association Gwangju Metropolitan City branch meeting room (3rd floor), officially starting his duties.
He is the son of patriot Choi Byung-ho from Wolpo and a former public official who worked at Gwangju Dong-gu Office, the Waterworks Headquarters, and the Urban Corporation, retiring in 2012 from the Environmental Corporation.
While serving as the head of the Nam-gu branch of the Liberation Association Gwangju Metropolitan City branch, he was recognized for his dedication to promoting the spirit of the nation and his outstanding ability to carry out tasks.
Choi said, “I will focus on projects to promote the spirit of the nation and inherit the independence spirit,” adding, “It is most important to pass on the spirit of independence to future generations.”
Meanwhile, the Liberation Association is a public legal entity composed of independence patriots and their families.

The Gwangju Metropolitan City branch carries out tasks such as the March 1st Movement Commemoration Ceremony, the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea Establishment Commemoration Ceremony, Liberation Day Commemoration Ceremony, Gyeongsul National Humiliation Memorial Ceremony, Late Joseon Honam Righteous Army Memorial Service, Patriots and Martyrs Day Commemoration Ceremony, overseas anti-Japanese independence movement historic site tours (participated by Liberation Association members, students, and citizens), domestic anti-Japanese independence movement historic site tours, and special history lectures for citizens and students.
