Boseong-gun Cultural Arts Center Choir Holds Regular Concert

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will hold the 5th regular concert of the Boseong-gun Culture and Arts Center Choir at 7:30 PM on the 24th (Friday) at the Boseong-gun Culture and Arts Center.

The regular concert of the Boseong-gun Culture and Arts Center Choir will be held under the theme of ‘Chorus’ and the performance will be divided into two parts.

In the first part, ‘The Singers,’ a group of choir conductors, will perform representative a cappella chorus pieces conducted by Conductor Kim Bomi. Soprano Park Siyoung will prepare a solo stage with the Korean art song ‘Nae Maeum-ui Gangmul (The River of My Heart),’ which has lyrical lyrics.

An unpublished piece by Chae Dongsun, a pioneer of ethnic music from Boseong-gun, will also be premiered. The Singers will perform Chae Dongsun’s unpublished piece.

The second part will be organized as the 5th regular concert of the Boseong-gun Culture and Arts Center Choir. The choir was founded in 2017 as a mixed-gender choir and has been presenting high-quality choral performances through consistent practice.

In this concert, the musical piece ‘One Day More’ from the musical Les Mis?rables will be arranged as a choral piece, creating a grand stage with soloists. Baritone Lee Wonseop will prepare a solo stage with ‘Kkeut-eopsneun Gangmuri Heureune’ (The Endless River Flows), a setting of three famous poems by poet Kim Youngrang composed by Oh Byunghee.

The joint choir stage will be conducted by Conductor Kim Bomi, and all performers will harmonize together on Chae Dongsun’s art song ‘Geuriwo (Longing).’ The final piece, ‘Boseong-gunmin-ui Changa (Hymn of the Citizens of Boseong-gun),’ arranged by composer Moon Hyunju and conducted by Kang Giljun, will be presented.

Choir director Lim Taewook said, “I am pleased to be able to present the sound of our local musician’s art songs arranged for choir to the local residents who love music, and I want to prepare a wonderful stage to enjoy together on an early summer night.” He added, “I hope this will be a time to feel again the happiness and emotion that music has given us.”
