Closing of the 11th Jeonju City Council Session

[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] The 11th Jeonju City Council (Chairman Kim Nam-gyu) closed the 392nd extraordinary session's 2nd plenary meeting held on the 16th.
The 11th Jeonju City Council has been evaluated for dedicating itself to legislative activities aimed at the development of Jeonju and the welfare improvement of its citizens over four years since July 2018.
Centered on Chairman Park Byung-sul and Vice Chairman Kang Dong-hwa in the first half, and Chairman Kang Dong-hwa and Vice Chairman Lee Mi-sook in the second half, the 11th council, consisting of 34 members, conducted legislative activities through a total of 42 sessions, including 8 regular meetings and 34 extraordinary meetings, handling 1,049 agenda items.
In particular, the 354 instances of 5-minute free speeches and 109 city administration questions played a role not only in checking and monitoring the executive branch but also served as essential "light and salt" for our region.
Additionally, the city council actively engaged in activities for regional, national, and global peace through declarations and resolutions such as the 'Statement Urging Participation in the Good Landlord Movement,' 'Resolution Urging Measures to Reduce Rent for Small Business Owners,' 'Condemnation of the Myanmar Military Coup and Call for Restoration of Democratic Order,' and 'Resolution Urging Suspension of the Japanese Government's Promotion of Sado Mine World Heritage Registration.'
Chairman Kim Nam-gyu said, "I thank the council members who have worked to improve the quality of life for citizens and the public officials who have generously supported legislative development," adding, "The achievements of the 11th council will be a solid foundation for the future and leap forward of the Jeonju City Council."
The 12th council, newly composed of 35 members through the June 1st nationwide simultaneous local elections, will begin its four-year legislative activities starting next month on the 1st.
