Lexus Korea Launches 'New Generation NX' and 'UX 300e'
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Lexus Korea announced on the 15th that it will officially launch the first-ever Lexus plug-in hybrid (PHEV) NX 450h+, hybrid (HEV) NX 350h, and electric vehicle (BEV) UX 300e.
The New Generation NX is the first model to completely renew all aspects including driving control, aerodynamics, weight reduction, and design to deliver a special driving experience in the future electrification era and to herald the next generation of Lexus.
The New Generation NX is available with two powertrains: Lexus's first plug-in hybrid model and a hybrid. The plug-in hybrid models are offered in NX 450h+ Premium and NX 450h+ F Sport trims, while the hybrid models come in NX 350h Premium and NX 350h Luxury trims, totaling four grades.
All trims feature a high-efficiency 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine as the powertrain. The plug-in hybrid NX 450h+ delivers a total system output of 307 horsepower, a combined fuel efficiency of 14.4 km/ℓ, and an electric efficiency of about 3.8 km/kWh, achieving both high economy and driving performance.
Additionally, the NX 450h+ is equipped with an 18.1 kWh lithium-ion battery composed of 96 cells, enabling a pure electric driving range of approximately 56 km (combined standard) on a single charge. The charging port supports single-phase AC slow charging. It is equipped with a 6.6 kW OBC (on-board charger), allowing a full charge in about 2 hours and 37 minutes using a 32A slow charger. The hybrid NX 350h has a total output of 242 horsepower, which is 43 horsepower higher than the previous model. Its combined fuel efficiency has improved by 16.7% to 14.0 km/ℓ compared to the previous model.
The electric vehicle UX 300e is a city-type compact sport utility vehicle (SUV). The body frame is designed to fit the battery pack, minimizing unnecessary space. It offers 305 liters of trunk space. The cross members applied underneath absorb impact during side collisions to protect the battery and related management systems located at the vehicle's bottom. The battery mounted under the vehicle also reduces road noise during driving, decreasing noise entering the cabin.
The UX 300e is equipped with a 54.35 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing a practical driving range for urban driving. The maximum driving range on a single charge is about 233 km. Charging time takes approximately 50 minutes from 0% to 75% using DC CHAdeMO fast charging, and about 80 minutes from 0% to 100%.
The recommended retail prices for the Lexus New Generation NX are ▲NX 350h Premium 65 million KRW ▲NX 350h Luxury 74.4 million KRW ▲NX 450h+ Premium 71 million KRW ▲NX 450h+ F Sport 78 million KRW, and the UX 300e is priced at 54.9 million KRW.
Kang Dae-hwan, Managing Director of Lexus Korea, said, “The simultaneous launch of the new NX and UX 300e is a concrete execution plan of our strategy to get closer to carbon neutrality while meeting individual lifestyles through diverse options such as plug-in hybrid, hybrid, and electric vehicles.”
