98 Severe COVID-19 Patients Hospitalized for Three Days Below 100
3 out of 10 Seniors Aged 60+ Have Completed 4th Vaccination Dose
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] As the number of new COVID-19 cases in South Korea remains below 10,000 for the fifth consecutive day, the number of new deaths has recorded its lowest level in nine months.
According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters on the 14th, as of midnight, 9,778 new COVID-19 cases were added, bringing the total cumulative cases to 18,239,056.
The daily new cases have stayed below 10,000 for five consecutive days since the 10th. Compared to the previous day’s lowest number in five months (3,828 cases), this is an increase of 5,950 cases.
The number of new deaths recorded as of midnight was 2, marking the lowest in nine months. This is the first time in 274 days since September 13 last year (1 death). The total cumulative deaths stand at 24,390, with a fatality rate of 0.13%.
The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized is 98. This is below 100 for the third consecutive day, increasing by 3 from the previous day (95). The nationwide critical care bed occupancy rate is 8.1%, with 6.7% in the metropolitan area and 12.6% in non-metropolitan areas.
With 8,248 new patients added to home treatment yesterday, the total number of patients currently under home treatment is 51,141. Among them, 3,115 are in the intensive management group receiving health care from medical institutions.

The fourth COVID-19 vaccination rate for those aged 60 and above was recorded at 30.0% on the day. This means 3 out of 10 people in this age group have completed their fourth dose. The first dose vaccination rate for children aged 5 to 11 is 1.5%, and the second dose rate is 0.7%.
