"HMM Launches New Platform for Online Ship Booking and Freight Quotations"
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] HMM launched a new online booking platform called Hi Quote on the 13th. This is the first attempt in the domestic shipping industry.
By using this platform, users can select ship schedules, departure and arrival locations, types of cargo, and the number of dry containers all at once to get a quote or make a booking. Previously, availability of space and freight quotes were confirmed through offline channels such as phone, fax, email, or sales representatives before making reservations online.
This service allows customers to choose service routes according to their desired schedules and receive real-time freight quotes anytime and anywhere in an online environment. The company plans to initially pilot the service on four routes departing from Korea to Europe, East and Southeast Asia, South America, and Australia. By the end of this year, the service will be expanded to all routes departing from Korea, including the United States and Canada.
