On the 13th, Jeon appeared on MBC Radio's Kim Jong-bae's Focus and was asked about his plan to run in the party convention. He said, "I think it is not appropriate to make changes at this time," regarding the rule changes for the party convention. He added, "The rules for the party convention must be finalized at least 90 days before the candidate registration begins. That deadline has already passed."
Jeon gave an example, saying, "The party constitution requires that regulations on nominations be decided and announced one year in advance." He said, "This is to provide predictability to candidates and prevent arbitrary actions. Adjustments such as the proportion of delegates and party members can be made if one side is overly weighted, but I believe fundamental changes should not be made."
Regarding former lawmaker Lee Kwang-jae expressing the opinion along with Lee Jae-myung and Hong Young-pyo that Jeon Hae-cheol himself should not run, Jeon said, "I have not declared my candidacy immediately and am carefully listening to such opinions to consider what is necessary for the party."
Jeon stated, "The essential question is what policies the Democratic Party has implemented as a party for the working class and middle class," adding, "We need to discuss whether there have been proper policies addressing income and asset inequality, opportunity inequality, population decline, and regional imbalance, as well as whether there have been substantial efforts and practical plans for party reform and political reform."
