Shinsegae Department Store Character Pubilla NFT Sold Out in 1 Second "Metaverse Ecosystem Full-Scale Launch"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Shinsegae Department Store announced on the 13th that its own character Puvilla's non-fungible tokens (NFTs) sold out in just one second. Shinsegae, which signed a business agreement with MetaKongs, a leading domestic NFT company, in April and began producing NFTs, plans to actively build a metaverse ecosystem.
Shinsegae produced 10,000 NFTs of its representative character Puvilla and sold them in three rounds on the 11th. These NFTs attracted greater attention by offering benefits such as access to Shinsegae Department Store lounges, valet parking, and shopping discounts according to six different grades. The NFT grades are random and unknown at the time of purchase, with a collective announcement scheduled for June 18. NFT holders can enjoy department store benefits during the ownership period, and these benefits are transferred to the buyer in secondary sales.
This Puvilla NFT was introduced on the NFT trading platform OpenSea. It was sold using the cryptocurrency Klaytn, priced at 250 KLAY for the first and second rounds, and 300 KLAY for the third round. At the time of sale, these prices were approximately 110,000 KRW and 130,000 KRW respectively.
Since May, Shinsegae has created a community called 'Puvilla Society' to share information about the Puvilla NFTs. Members of Puvilla Society posted purchase verification photos from Shinsegae Department Store and drew Puvilla fan art while waiting for the NFT sales.
Starting with the website, Shinsegae consecutively opened social media channels such as Discord, Twitter, and KakaoTalk. As of June 12, the Discord Puvilla community gathered 90,000 members, surpassing the 58,000 members of MetaKongs, the largest domestic NFT operation team. It is the largest NFT community trading with the cryptocurrency Klaytn.
Puvilla is Shinsegae Department Store’s representative character, first created in 2017. It has gained popularity among customers in their 20s and 30s through collaborations with luxury brand Roger Vivier and the SSG Landers baseball team.
This Puvilla NFT was the first PFP NFT (Picture For Profile NFT?a digital image used as a profile for social media and communities) created by a large corporation using its own character.
Starting next month, Shinsegae is preparing offline NFT events in earnest. From mid to late July, the Puvilla NFT Festival will be held at the Centum City branch, featuring pop-ups and other events, with plans to organize parties for NFT holders in the future.
Shinsegae plans to continue producing various goods using Puvilla NFTs, collaborating with brands and artists, and building a metaverse ecosystem.
