[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The movie Crime City 2 surpassed 10 million viewers in just 25 days since its release. This is the first achievement since the pandemic, the 28th in history, and the 20th Korean film to reach the 10 million viewer milestone.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system real-time distributor tally at 1:50 PM on the 11th, Crime City 2 (directed by Lee Sang-yong) surpassed 10,001,134 viewers.
The film, released on the 18th of last month, reached 1 million viewers in 2 days, 2 million in 4 days, 3 million in 5 days, 4 million in 7 days, 5 million in 10 days, 6 million in 12 days, 7 million in 14 days, 8 million in 18 days, 9 million in 20 days, and 10 million in 25 days. It is expected to surpass the records of Frozen (2014), Interstellar (2014), and the highest-grossing May release in history, Parasite (2019).
Furthermore, it is the first Korean film to reach 10 million viewers since Parasite, which achieved this milestone 53 days after its release on July 22, 2019.
Crime City 2 is a thrilling crime sweep operation movie depicting the monster detective Ma Seok-do (Ma Dong-seok) and the Geumcheon Police Station's violent crimes unit as they take on the strongest villain Kang Hae-sang (Son Seok-gu), who dominates the Vietnamese area.
