Naju Natural Dyeing Foundation Holds 'Natural Dyeing Painting Exhibition' Until the 26th
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yukbong] On the 10th, Jeonnam Naju City Natural Dyeing Cultural Foundation announced that it will hold a special exhibition titled "Natural Dyeing Paintings, Blooming in Naju" at the Korean Natural Dyeing Museum's special exhibition hall until the 26th.
Hosted by the Naju Natural Dyeing Cultural Foundation and organized by the Korean Natural Dyeing Stencil Dyeing Research Association (President Kim Yeonhwa), the keyword for this exhibition is "Natural Dyeing Paintings and Naju."
Natural dyeing is mainly limited to a supplementary role in fashion and daily goods, but in paintings, it is recognized as the main subject and as an artwork itself.
Natural dyeing paintings primarily use the "hyeongyeom" (型染) technique, which involves painting with a brush using natural dyes or stencil dyeing patterns of figures and landscapes.
Most of the works presented in this exhibition use the hyeongyeom technique, allowing viewers to appreciate lotus flowers expressed with ink, peacocks and chaekgeori (books and objects) painted with persimmon dye, landscape paintings created with indigo dye, and abstract paintings made with sappanwood and indigo.
There are about 60 works by artists including Kim Gyenyeon, Kim Mikyung, Kim Yeonsun, Kim Yeonhwa, Park Juyeon, Yoon Sookhee, Jeong Jeongbok, Joo Jaehak, Han Hwajeong, and Hwang Inho.
Kim Yeonhwa, president of the Korean Natural Dyeing Stencil Dyeing Research Association, said, "I am pleased that the artistic spirit of each artist's paintings can bloom in Naju, the number one place for natural dyeing," adding, "It will be a great opportunity to appreciate the artistry and potential of natural dyeing paintings."
