Yangnim-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju, 'Walking Together in Happiness' with Vulnerable Groups
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Residents of Yangrim-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City are actively promoting various public-private cooperation projects to support vulnerable residents in the area, including improving children's academic performance and providing essential daily living supplies.
According to Nam-gu on the 10th, the Yangrim-dong Administrative Welfare Center and the Community Social Security Council will carry out welfare sharing projects targeting vulnerable residents such as low-income elderly families, children, people with disabilities, and single-parent households from this month until July to create a warm-hearted neighborly community.
First, members of the Yangrim-dong community are operating a project to improve the academic performance of children from vulnerable families.
This is to support children in pursuing their dreams, experiencing the joy of learning through study, and designing a happy future on their own.
To this end, on the 7th, residents provided 50,000 KRW gift certificates to 30 children from vulnerable families in the area to purchase school supplies and reference books, and plan to award scholarships of 100,000 KRW each to 30 elementary, middle, and high school students in July.
In addition, a side dish support service is provided to residents who have difficulty preparing meals to help them have healthy dining tables.
They signed agreements with local side dish stores so that the residents can purchase the side dishes they need directly, and have issued 50,000 KRW coupons per household to 30 households, including elderly people living alone and disabled households.
Furthermore, to assist elderly residents who have difficulty going out due to mobility issues, 15 silver carts, which are walking aids, will be purchased and delivered to the elderly around the 23rd.
