Dongmyung University Awards Honorary Doctorate to Indonesian Vice Minister... Doing Education of Challenge, Experience, and Practice Spreads to Asia

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] On the morning of the 9th, Dongmyung University awarded an honorary Doctorate in Business Administration to Jerry Sambuaga, Chairman of the Indonesian Bowling Association and Chairman of the Central Leadership Committee of the Golkar Party, who is also the Vice Minister of Trade of Indonesia.
Vice Minister Jerry Sambuaga has served as ▲Chairman of the Indonesian Youth Central Leadership Council ▲Chairman of the Central Committee of the Indonesian National Committee ▲President of the Jakarta Minahasa Student Youth Association, among other roles.
He has also held positions such as ▲Researcher at the Indonesian State Ministry's International Security and Disarmament Bureau ▲Special Advisor to the Indonesian Delegation in the UN Peacekeeping and Conflict Resolution field ▲Professional staff to the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives and Chairman of the Central Leadership Committee of the Golkar Party.
Vice Minister Jerry holds a Bachelor of Political Science from the University of San Francisco, a Master of International Security Policy from Columbia University, and is the youngest PhD in Political Science from the University of Indonesia.
He is also dedicated to sharing technical experience and promoting educational exchanges to improve the quality of human resources in Indonesia through cooperation with Korea.
President Jeon Ho-hwan stated, “He is one of Indonesia’s most prominent next-generation leaders who played a key role in the Korea-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and has close ties with various Indonesian universities,” adding, “He will also play a significant role in globally spreading and implementing the Do-ing education of Dongmyung University, a university that fosters Do-ing talents through challenge, experience, and practice.”
Dongmyung University plans to expand its role in providing pre-employment training for Indonesian students and addressing the shortage of on-site workers in the domestic shipbuilding industry by expanding trade exchanges between the two countries, using the honorary doctorate award as an opportunity.
Dongmyung University has recently strengthened cooperation with Indonesia, including awarding an honorary Doctorate in Architecture to Tri Rismaharini, Mayor of Surabaya City, in September 2019.
In May 2021, it also signed key agreements such as the 2+2 degree program with Indonesia University of Education (UPI, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia) and Pakuan University (UNPAK, Universitas Pakuan).
With UPI, a university specializing in educational technology, a joint degree program is being implemented where the two universities share a two-year English track bachelor's degree curriculum and a one-year English track master's degree graduate program.
