View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] Sohn Tae-seung, Chairman of Woori Financial Group, discussed international cooperation measures for responding to the climate crisis and natural restoration with the British Ambassador to Korea.
According to the financial sector on the 10th, Chairman Sohn met with Colin Crooks, the British Ambassador to Korea, at the Woori Financial Group headquarters the previous day. At the meeting, Chairman Sohn introduced ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) achievements aimed at overcoming the climate crisis and natural restoration, as well as renewable energy financial support projects conducted in the UK. He also revealed plans for the circular economy achievement campaign and projects to prevent deforestation and degradation (REDD+), requesting cooperation.
Ambassador Colin Crooks also introduced investment opportunities in the UK’s green and climate finance sectors. He added, “We hope to work closely with Woori Financial in the fields of carbon neutrality, natural restoration, and the circular economy.” Jonathan Woodland, Head of the Climate Diplomacy Team at the British Embassy in Korea, who also attended, emphasized close cooperation with Woori Financial in future overseas forestry projects and plastic pollution prevention.

Chairman Sohn stated, “We hope to collaborate with the UK, which has expertise in carbon neutrality and climate crisis response, across various fields,” and added, “I hope this will be an opportunity for Woori Financial and the UK to seek exchanges and cooperation in ESG policies, investments, culture, and more.”
