To resolve issues such as the inability to hold confirmation hearings due to the lack of standing committees caused by the negotiation deadlock over the formation of the National Assembly, the party is also considering forming a special committee.
On the 15th, Lee Su-jin, the Democratic Party floor spokesperson, met with reporters after the Democratic Party policy coordination meeting held at the National Assembly and said, “There were concerns raised during the local election process regarding the Personnel Information Management Unit under the Ministry of Justice, and there also seem to be worries about how personnel information, which should be under the Ministry of Personnel Management, is being transferred to the Personnel Information Management Unit?whether legally or illegally. This is an area we are reviewing internally.” He added, “We plan to proceed with a review related to filing a constitutional complaint.”
Earlier, the government amended the ‘Enforcement Rules of the Organization of the Ministry of Justice and Its Affiliated Agencies (Ministry of Justice Ordinance)’ and the ‘Regulations on the Collection and Management of Information on Public Office Candidates, etc. (Presidential Decree)’ to establish the Personnel Information Management Unit under the Ministry of Justice. This unit is tasked with handling the collection and management of personnel information related to public office candidates, delegated by the head of the Ministry of Personnel Management.

Regarding the issue of confirmation hearings not being held due to the absence of standing committees caused by the negotiation deadlock over the formation of the National Assembly, he said, “The Democratic Party is already internally preparing so that members who have served on the Education Committee or the Welfare Committee can immediately conduct confirmation hearings if such hearings are held.” He added, “If the plenary session is held tomorrow and a speaker is elected, we will be able to thoroughly verify through the special confirmation hearing committee within the confirmation hearing period whether the candidates meet the public’s expectations and inform the government accordingly.”
