Access Cars and Homes Without a 'Key'... Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass Integration Enhances Convenience

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Samsung Electronics announced that starting from the 9th, it will sequentially roll out a software update that integrates Samsung Pass services into Samsung Pay and includes various features to enhance user convenience. The update is available on Samsung Pay-supported devices running Android 9 or higher.
Through this update, Samsung Pay will support the 'Digital Key' feature, which can be used as a key for homes and cars, provide a 'Digital Asset' inquiry function to view virtual assets at a glance, and offer a 'Ticket' service feature to store and use airline tickets, movie tickets, and more.
The 'Digital Key' allows users to access their homes and cars via Samsung Pay without carrying physical keys. Users can lock and unlock car doors and even start the engine through Samsung Pay. The sharing feature enables users to share keys with family or acquaintances.
By using door locks linked with the SmartThings application, users can conveniently enter their homes with simple operations through Samsung Pay.
Samsung Pay's digital asset inquiry function supports real-time viewing of various digital assets linked with virtual asset exchanges such as Kobit, Coinone, and Bithumb.
In the future, the ticket service feature will support adding and using boarding passes issued by airlines and various tickets for movies, performances, and sports through Samsung Pay. Users will be able to manage schedules for flights, movies, and performances. Partner airlines include Korean Air, Jin Air, and Jeju Air. Partner ticket vendors include Megabox, Lotte Cinema, and Ticketlink.
Additionally, coupons purchased from various vendors can be registered in Samsung Pay's 'Coupon' feature for easy viewing.
All newly added features in Samsung Pay are continuously monitored through Samsung Knox, a security platform, to prevent various external threats. Sensitive personal information is stored in a separate secure area within the device to ensure users can use the service with confidence.
Han Jini, Vice President of Samsung Electronics MX Division, said, "Through the Samsung Pay update, we aim to provide a more convenient experience not only for payments but also for homes, cars, public transportation, and cultural activities throughout life," adding, "We plan to continuously expand the Samsung Pay ecosystem by collaborating with various partners and developers."
