CJ Logistics Exports Advanced Logistics System... Leading 'Logistics Innovation' in Southeast Asia
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] CJ Logistics is targeting the Southeast Asian logistics market through the transfer of advanced logistics systems. They are significantly improving productivity by adapting technology verified in Korea to local conditions.
CJ Logistics announced on the 9th that it is continuously expanding the application of TES (Technology, Engineering, System & Solution)-based automated logistics systems to logistics centers in Southeast Asia.
In Southeast Asia, it is common to handle all logistics processes?from product receipt, picking, packaging, shipping, to inventory checks?manually using a large workforce. However, due to the impact of COVID-19, the Southeast Asian e-commerce market is expected to grow rapidly at an average annual rate of over 23% until 2025, leading to a continuous increase in demand for digital transformation and automation in the logistics industry. In response to these changes, CJ Logistics is operating TES-based automated systems and operational methods, which have been verified domestically, adapted to local conditions.
At a household goods logistics center in Malaysia last year, CJ Logistics introduced its self-developed multipurpose logistics support system, MPS (Multi Purpose System), to efficiently handle nearly three times the increased order volume. MPS is a cutting-edge logistics system that supports workers performing picking, sorting, and shipping tasks at the logistics center by transmitting customer order information. By integrating IT technology, it enables real-time information delivery and monitoring, allowing flexible response to continuously changing logistics environments such as increased cargo volume and operational method changes.
In particular, when the wireless terminal MPI (Multi Purpose Indicator) linked with MPS is attached to storage shelves, it automatically provides related information such as products and quantities, enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of work. In fact, at the Malaysian logistics center, the introduction of MPS increased the productivity of picking work?dividing products into individual boxes according to order information?by about 3.2 times and reduced the workforce by 55%.
At the retail logistics center operating in Vietnam, the digital sorting system DAS (Digital Assorting System) has been introduced to improve work productivity. DAS is an automated system suitable for logistics centers that pick and ship large quantities of a small variety of products and is the most widely used technology in domestic logistics centers. Workers simply scan the products to be shipped and pack them into boxes according to the quantities indicated on the shelves, enabling fast and accurate work even by inexperienced personnel.
Additionally, CJ Logistics is expanding the application of various advanced technologies tailored to local Southeast Asian logistics centers, such as the control system WCS (Warehouse Control System) that integrates automated equipment management and automated inspection systems.
