View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] LG is focusing on strengthening its artificial intelligence (AI) technology competitiveness to innovate customer experience and deliver new value.
Since unveiling the massive 'AI Exaone' in December last year, LG has been achieving tangible results. 'Massive AI' refers to AI capable of thinking, learning, and making judgments like humans by autonomously learning from large-scale data based on computing infrastructure capable of large-scale calculations. The Exaone unveiled by LG possesses multi-modality capabilities that allow it to acquire and handle various information related to human communication, including language, images, and videos.
The results became clear with the unveiling of the first AI human 'Tilda' implemented with Exaone in February this year. It is regarded as a representative case demonstrating the possibility of collaboration between AI and humans in fields requiring creativity.
Centered on LG AI Research Institute, the 'Expert AI Alliance,' consisting of 13 domestic and international companies from various industries, has also been launched to concretize business. In the first half of this year, they plan to provide partners with an application programming interface (API) that enables easy development of customized expert AI, removing development entry barriers. Additionally, to allow those without coding expertise or AI developers to easily utilize Exaone on the web, they plan to start operating the service platform 'Exaone Playground' in the second half of the year, accelerating the popularization of massive AI.

The LG AI Research Institute has rapidly increased its staff from about 70 at its launch to around 190 within a year, strengthening its research capabilities. Over the past year since its establishment, it has achieved the acceptance of 18 papers, including on 'optimal path reinforcement learning' and 'AI composing music,' at the world's most prestigious AI conferences.
