Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Secures Ship Orders Worth 923.3 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Junho] Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the shipbuilding holding company of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, announced on the 8th that it has signed a contract with a European shipping company to build six container ships. The total contract amount is 923.3 billion KRW. The ships ordered this time are 8,000 TEU (1 TEU equals one 20-foot container) class vessels equipped with liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel engines, to be built at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in Yeongam, Jeollanam-do, and scheduled for delivery by the second half of 2025. With this contract, Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has secured a total of 105 vessels (12.9 billion USD) so far, achieving 74% of this year's target.
