Korea Photonics Industry Promotion Association Establishes Foothold for Entry into Asian Optical Communication Market
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Korea Photonics Industry Promotion Association participated in the CommunicAsia 2022 joint pavilion to support overseas marketing of domestic optical communication companies, assisting Korean small and medium-sized enterprises with excellent products and technologies to enter the Asian overseas market.
The Photonics Industry Promotion Association participated in CommunicAsia 2022 (Singapore Optical Communication Exhibition), Asia's largest optical communication exhibition held in Singapore from the 1st to the 3rd, as a joint pavilion with 10 domestic optical communication companies.
Through marketing activities matching optical communication participating companies with overseas buyers, a total achievement of 1 million USD was realized.
To enter Indonesia, a blue chip in the Asian optical communication market, the Promotion Association signed an MOU with the Indonesian state-owned telecommunications company TELKOM AKSES to promote entry and exchange cooperation between SMEs of both countries.
Sunil Telecom Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Gyu-sik), a company participating in the joint pavilion, invited a British buyer company to the joint pavilion and signed an additional supply contract worth 500,000 USD. Another participating company, Talents Co., Ltd. (CEO Jung Ji-young), also signed a supply contract worth 100,000 USD with a Vietnamese buyer company. Korea Otron Co., Ltd. (CEO Jung Hwi-young) achieved great results by signing a 150,000 USD optical cable supply contract with a Philippine optical communication company.
Every year, the Promotion Association operates more than five overseas exhibition joint pavilions by field, such as overseas optical communication, optical medical, optical materials and components, and plans to continuously support the overseas expansion and market growth of domestic photonics convergence companies through exhibitions such as the European optical communication exhibition ECOC (September), Germany's architectural lighting fair Light&Building (October), and Vietnam Energy Exhibition (November).
Additionally, through the ‘365 Non-face-to-face Integrated Situation Room’ operated by the Promotion Association since 2020, continuous follow-up management of consultation connections and export contract achievements between joint pavilion participating companies and overseas buyers is conducted. Promising overseas buyers discovered at each exhibition will be invited to the 2022 International Photonics Convergence Business Fair (August) and the 20th International Photonics Convergence Industry Exhibition and Conference (November), both held domestically.
