Gangneung City to Open Major Beaches Including Gyeongpo on the 8th of Next Month
Preparation of Sector-Specific Action Plans for Safety Accident Prevention, Waste Management, and User Convenience Enhancement
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangneung City announced on the 7th that "17 beaches including Gyeongpo, Jumunjin, Jeongdongjin, and Okgae will simultaneously open on July 8 and operate for 45 days."
According to the city, this year visitors can freely enjoy the beaches without separate quarantine measures for the first time in three years.
The city expects a surge in beach visitors compared to last year and has prepared sector-specific action plans including institutional improvements for safe and convenient beach operations.
Gyeongpo Beach will set up a 24-hour comprehensive control center and deploy 72 water safety personnel to prevent water-related accidents in advance.
Additionally, to prevent collisions between powered water leisure devices and swimmers, the swimming area and water leisure area will be separated.
For clean management of the sandy beach, a public competitive bidding system will be introduced for selecting contractors for cleaning services and convenience facilities.
To eradicate fee disputes, regulations on usage fees will be revised, full installation of card terminals will be mandated, and a 200-meter central passage will be open at night along with various events planned.
