KT&G Announces Recruitment for 'Sangsang Univ Jiphyeonjeon 2022' Participants... Total Prize Money 30 Million KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] KT&G announced on the 7th that it will hold the music festival ‘Sangsang Univ Jiphyeonjeon 2022’ for university students nationwide who dream of becoming musicians.
Applications will be accepted from the 8th until August 7th. The festival will be held in three categories: vocal, rap, and band. Detailed information can be found on the Sangsang Univ website. Through fair judging by experts in music, directing, and other fields, a total of 36 teams will be selected in the preliminary round, and in the finals, six mentors will directly select 12 teams to compete in the final competition. The final judging panel includes singers Baek Ji-young, Kim Tae-woo, Kim Tae-won, Han Kyung-rok, Kunta, and Shins.
The 12 teams participating in the final competition will receive benefits such as mentoring from famous musicians and music registration. A prize of 30 million KRW will also be awarded. The final competition and festival, held at Sangsang Madang Chuncheon, will feature the 12 teams competing, with one team selected from each category for a total of three teams. Mentors’ congratulatory performances can also be enjoyed.

A KT&G official said, "Sangsang Univ Jiphyeonjeon is an original cultural and artistic program for university students aspiring to be next-generation musicians," adding, "It will be a special experience for university clubs and musicians, who have had limited performance opportunities due to COVID-19, to showcase their talents in front of a large audience."
