Suspected Monkeypox Case Reported in Washington DC, USA

On the 6th (local time), according to the political media The Hill, the Washington DC health authorities recently sent a resident who tested positive for orthopoxvirus to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for additional testing and final confirmation of monkeypox. Orthopoxvirus is a family of viruses that includes the monkeypox virus. This resident recently visited Europe and is currently in isolation.
In the United States, 25 confirmed cases of monkeypox infection have been officially reported across 11 states. There have been no deaths caused by this so far. Monkeypox causes symptoms such as fever, chills, headache, and a vesicular rash similar to chickenpox all over the body.
