[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] A Suhyup employee who was accused of threatening his colleague's girlfriend with a sashimi knife after the colleague failed to pay for a car accident received a suspended sentence in the first trial.
The Seoul Western District Court Criminal Division 8 (Presiding Judge Kim Woojung) announced on the 5th that it sentenced A (42), who was indicted on charges of special intimidation and trespassing, to 10 months in prison with a 2-year suspension.
The court stated, "The defendant committed the intimidation crime using a knife, and considering the danger, the nature of the crime is not light, and he has been punished several times for violent crimes," but added, "He fully admitted the crime overall, reached a settlement with the victim, and the victim does not want the defendant to be punished," explaining the sentencing reasons.
A was indicted for visiting the victim B's house on February 19 and using abusive language such as "Open the door, you XX," and when B, frightened, opened the door, he entered the residence without permission.
Also, around 3 p.m. on the same day, A drew out a 25cm sashimi knife and pointed it at B's neck, threatening with words like "I came to kill you guys," and "If you don't want to die, contact your boyfriend."
However, when B's boyfriend C did not answer the call, A reportedly ordered delivery food and said, "Since you are a woman, I won't kill you but will sell you to an island."
Later, around 11 p.m., A demanded B, "Leave your boyfriend and sleep with me once now," and when rejected, he got angry and said, "Do you think I can't do it?" and slashed B's left forearm several times with the sashimi knife.
According to the court, A is a senior at C's company, and C bought A's passenger car in 2018 but only paid part of the purchase price and drove the car without transferring the title.
