President Yoon: "The Comprehensive Strategic Alliance Between Korea and the U.S. Aligns with Both Nations' Interests"
[Asia Economy Reporter Bae Kyunghwan] President Yoon Suk-yeol stated on the 3rd, "We have a firm determination that developing the South Korea-U.S. relationship into a comprehensive strategic alliance on a global scale aligns with the interests of both countries."
On the morning of the same day, President Yoon met with U.S. experts in diplomacy and security at the Yongsan Presidential Office building and said, "Based on the strong South Korea-U.S. alliance, we plan to expand South Korea's role and responsibilities." The visitors to the Presidential Office were American academics and prominent current and former figures who came to South Korea to attend the "South Korea-U.S. Relations Symposium," held in commemoration of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and the U.S. They included Dr. Paul Wolfowitz from the American Enterprise Institute, Karen House, senior researcher at Harvard University's Belfer Center, Edwin Feulner, founder of the Heritage Foundation, and Christopher Del Corso, Charg? d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in South Korea.
At the meeting, President Yoon said, "When President Biden visited Korea, we were able to establish a firm consensus on the vision for the South Korea-U.S. alliance. Through lengthy discussions, we confirmed that our views on the development of the alliance align very precisely, and I am personally very satisfied with this."
